Here at Cara Glass, we understand that our buyers may have some concerns about COVID-19. It’s a very uncertain time for many of us, and the safety of both our loyal customers and expert team is paramount in everything we do. We’re following strict government guidelines and have put the following steps in place to protect everyone during your next installation.
Prior to Installation
Before any installation, our FENSA approved team will get in contact with you to ask a couple of pre-approved questions. This includes if anyone in your household has shown COVID-19 symptoms in the last 14 days, or if any person in your household has been asked to shield. This is for the safety of yourself, our team and other clients. If an installation is taking place with non-shielding, clinically vulnerable clients, our team will put extra-precautions in place.
Additionally, your installers will plan your installation in advance as much as possible. Prior to your appointment, our team will discuss the rooms they’ll be working on, if there are any rooms they should avoid (i.e. rooms where occupants will be), and any areas homeowners should avoid during your appointment. This will help ensure the installation process is as safe and straight forward as possible.
During Installation
When fitting your new windows and doors, our installers will always follow government guidelines. Our team will abide by social distancing rules wherever possible, and when this is unavoidable, face masks will be worn. Installers will frequently wash or sanitise their hands, including before entering your home. PPE will be provided beforehand and movement around your property will be kept to a minimum where possible.
Also, homeowners won’t need to worry about supplying refreshments. Even though our team usually love a good cup of tea, during the COVID-19 pandemic they’ll be happy to bring their own refreshments.
After Installation
Once our team have finished, they’ll thoroughly clean and sanitise the areas of your home they’ve worked in. We’ll hoover each room and hallway that has been used during installation, while sanitising all areas that they’ve come into contact with, including your new windows and doors.
Where possible, your installer will point you towards relevant online resources on how to use your new home improvements, rather than demonstrating. Our team will also sanitise any keys used, and we won’t shake your hand when leaving (a tricky habit to break!)
If you have any further questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Our friendly team will be happy to discuss your next installation and provide any relevant information you may need.

Following a 25-year senior management career in retail with Sainsburys and Poundland, he joined Cara in October 2020 to help the MD out for a few days and has been here ever since. His role is to oversee the daily operations of the business and deliver the long-term strategy of Cara Glass - ensuring the customer is always at the forefront of all that goes on. When he’s not in the office trying to find the next big tech thing you will normally find him at home with his wife and young family, or at Salisbury Football Club where he is a passionate and avid supporter. He also spends time relaxing playing one of the very many boardgames he owns (and don’t ever say Monopoly or Cluedo as a boardgame).
